Steve Smith Looking to Leave Carolina

Steve Smith has made it pretty clear he has no intention of playing for the Carolina Panthers in 2011. The wideout, who has spent his entire career in Panther blue, is ready to part ways with the team.

Smith has already cleaned out his locker and has also removed all of his stuff from the luxury suite he owns and uses for his family on game day. It has been long rumored that Smith has requested to be traded away from the team, and it is looking increasingly likely that it could happen.

One AFC West Blog on ESPN has suggested a pair of potential suitors in California, the Raiders and the Chargers.

Fantasy Outlook:
Smith's numbers have been down in recent years. He failed to hit 1,000 yards in back to back seasons and only managed 2 TD's in 2010. The team has struggled mightily at the quarterback position and even with #1 overall pick Cam Newton in the organization, Smith's numbers don't project to bounce back much this year.

He could achieve greater value if he shifts to a team better suited to use him. He is still a playmaker (if healthy), so we're definitely interested to see where he ends up. The right move could see him regaining his footing on the draft board.
