Other Off Field Interests

Steelers WR Hines Ward won another award to put inside his trophy case by taking the victory in Dancing With the Stars. I'm sure it will go right next to his Super Bowl MVP. Ward becomes the second football player to win the show. The first was Emmitt Smith back in 2006 (The same year Ward won that Super Bowl MVP).

Hines Ward isn't the only player out there tackling new challenges during the lockout. Here's how some other NFL players have been spending their free time off the football field.

Chad Ochocinco has created a number of headlines this offseason. Starting with his tryout for Sporting Kansas City, a Major League Soccer club. The team worked him out, but in the end Ocho didn't make the roster (More: Huffington Post). Naturally, he moved on to another more promising venture, bullriding. That's right, he rode a bull. Did he manage to stay on the bull for the full eight seconds? Nope. At least it was for a good cause raising money for Feed the Children (More: Yahoo).

The Vikings Ray Edwards has taken up professional boxing. He made his debut in front of 1,500 fans and won his first bout by unanimous decision in four rounds. By all accounts, the fight wasn't pretty, but he did notch a win and looks interested to keep at it (More: Star Tribune).

Troy Polamalu, like his fellow teammate Hines Ward, decided to take the cultured route. He returned to USC to complete his college degree. In case you're wondering he now holds a degree in History (More: Yahoo).
