Ex-Con Air: Why Plaxico Makes Sense for Philly
Plaxico BurressIcon SMI

Wednesday, June 8, 2011

Plaxico Burress was just released from prison and everyone is waiting to see where he is going to end up. There are a number of places he could land, but it is almost certain that it won't be with his former team, the New York Giants. However, he could make things interesting and move into the same division.

Perhaps he was making his own prediction when he walked out of lockup wearing a Philadelphia Phillies hat.

The Eagles definitely make sense. We don't know what kind of football condition Burress is in, but the last time I checked he was still 6' 5'' tall. Even if we assume he's lost a step, he will still be a big end zone target, which is something the Eagles don't currently have. He can also run the underneath routes and draw some extra attention away from the burners, DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin. Opposing defenses will love that!

Michael Vick, a fellow ex-inmate, has already made it known that he is interested in having Burress join the team and based on Plax's Phillies cap, it would seem that he feels the same way.

There are other teams out there that make sense such as the Rams, Redskins, and Jets, but the Eagles look like one of the best fits. We'll just have to hang tight until....this lockout ends.
