Is it Ingram or Thomas? Both backs will have every chance to succeed in 2011, but the edge goes to Mark Ingram. The biggest difference is the team that drafted him. Daniel Thomas is in a great position. Miami is unlikely to bring back Ronnie Brown and Thomas will get a crack at running the show, but don't be surprised if the Dolphins look to free agency to bring in another RB for help. No one can predict what will happen from there. The biggest downside for Thomas actually has little to do with him. That downsides name is Chad Henne. The Dolphins QB is running out of chances. He hasn't been able to get the passing game off the ground, even with the help of Brandon Marshall. Of course, if you can't get the passing game going, then teams can load up to stop the run. Ingram, on the other hand, finds himself in a much more solid position. The Saints don't have to worry about their passing game with Drew Brees and solid receivers. They can mix things up better, keeping the ground game open. This will translate into more quality touches for their backs. He will be sharing carries with Pierre Thomas, but Pierre has his own injury concerns. His ankle still isn't 100%. Even if he is fully healed to start the season, Ingram figures to see plenty of work. He is a legitimate three down back, and he's shown skill at blocking, an often overlooked skill that will earn him more touches. In total, 8 Rookie Running Backs made our Top 200 Draft Rankings. Here they are in order: 1. Mark Ingram NO 2. Daniel Thomas MIA 3. Roy Helu WAS 4. Ryan Williams ARI 5. DeMarco Murray DAL 6. Mikel LeShoure DET 7. Shane Vereen NE 8.
