While there's no reason to expect a big increase in his numbers (averaged 715 yards and 2 TDs over the last 2 seasons), this move could have a bunch of side effects. Let's take a look at some possibilities: Dwayne Bowe Not many people think that Bowe can carry his 2010 level of success into the new season. Obviously, it will be difficult to repeat a 1100+ yard 15 touchdown performance, but adding a veteran like Breaston in addition to rookie first rounder Jon Baldwin are going to help open the passing game and attract more attention from defenders. Their presence will benefit Bowe. I'm not ruling out another monster season. Matt Cassel All of a sudden Cassel has a lot more targets than he's used to having in red, white and yellow. The number of aerial threats coupled with the respect opposing defenses have to give the ground game means Cassel is in a great position to put up numbers. Kevin Kolb Not much seems to be going Kolb's way. All indications are that he will find himself in Arizona soon, but the offense he will inherit is now more diminished than it was a day ago. The Cardinals ground game was pathetic last year and now they are down to a single impact receiver. Granted, that receiver is Larry Fitzgerald, but you look for stronger secondary options than what Kolb will start with. Andre Roberts showed signs of life and could make some strides given the opportunity and we can hope that Early Doucet does the same. At this point, some of Kolb's value departed with Breaston. Larry Fitzgerald Speaking of Fitzgerald, Breaston's departure stings a little. Larry is still a top 10 WR and the addition of Kevin Kolb is a definite plus. However, like Kolb, Fitzgerald needs there to be another threat to help free him up. Without that, he could be facing another sub-par season. Don't worry too much though, because 1100 yards and 6 TD isn't considered sub-par for too many players. |
