Or do you think at some point the colts season will turn around and he will pick up points? A couple days ago we passed down our advice to Cut Peyton Manning Loose and Find a Backup. It makes sense since he will miss anywhere from 8-12 games to the entire season. The loss of Peyton Manning means that the Colts recently acquired Kerry Collins is going to be taking over the offense to begin the 2011 season. While our previous article covered some good backup options for Manning, fantasy footballers are left wondering what do with the Colts receivers. The simple answer is: carry on as normal. The Colts have a good nucleus of talented wideouts with Reggie Wayne, Pierre Garcon, Austin Collie, and TE Dallas Clark. Offloading your receivers via trade isn't a great idea right now because everyone knows that Manning is out and that hurts the value of this group. You can't trade low because you won't get much better in return. Collins proved to be an adequate quarterback during his time with the Titans and you have to be encouraged by the way he kept Kenny Britt and Nate Washington productive when they were on the field together. The Colts have more weapons on hand giving Collins more options. While this group isn't going to put up the same numbers they would have with Peyton Manning, they're also not going to completely fall off the map. The situation may take a couple weeks to clear itself out while we find out who Collins' favorite targets are and they need more reps to strengthen their connections, but they are going to be working together for a while so it's going to come together.
