To Worry or Not to Worry: Week 11

Stevie Johnson, Do Not Worry (for week 11 only)

The irrelevancy of Johnson continued in Week 10 with an absolutely terrible 2 receptions for only 8 yards in his game against the Cowboys. Next week he is playing against the Dolphins who have the 23rd ranked receiving defense. So, things are looking good for him…for next week only! After this game, where he should do well and have his first 100 yard reception game of the season (if his sore shoulder heals up), he has a very tough schedule. Facing the Jets, Titans, and Chargers defense all of which have very good receiving defenses. My recommendation is to start looking for replacements. If your league still allows trades try and trade him after this game.

Cam Newton, Worry

Cam is going up against the 3rd ranked pass defense in the league, the Detroit Lions. He is coming off a loss to the Tennessee Titans where he only managed to get a little over 200 yards passing and no touchdowns. His running game was off too with only 55 yards and no touchdowns either. Next week is not favorable for the Panthers, and especially not Newton. The Panthers are starting to show their colors, which aren’t pretty. At this point, I just can’t put my trust in Cam Newton.

Frank Gore, Worry

Gore has been one of, if not the best, running back this year. However, we all knew going into this year that Gore is one heck of a running back. The only problem is he is very injury prone and we see that every year. We were lucky not seeing too much of it … until now. He only had six rushing attempts, totaling zero yards, when he left for “extended stretches” with an apparent ankle and knee injury. He did return, but once again six attempts for zero yards was his final stat sheet. He is playing a weak Cardinals rush defense, but if he even plays he should be limited. The 49ers plain and simple don’t want to rush him back and they have a nice second string in Kendall Hunter. He will not see much playing time if any on Sunday.

LeGarrette Blount, Worry

Blount has a little over 100 yards in the last two games with no touchdowns. It is time to face reality and say that he isn’t even close to what he was last year, and quite frankly he hasn’t been very good for your roster this year. He is going up against the 6th ranked run defense and the only undefeated team left in the NFL - the Green Bay Packers. Not to mention that his abilities are wasted by the rest of this horrible offense. I can’t imagine this going well at all! Bench him, trade him, drop him and if you can’t or don’t want to do any of that then worry!

I have agree with ya, Grid. Gore has been a bit injury prone, but whats worse has been his Team thru his whole career. It was easy for me to pass him up when I thought the Niners would surely be playing from behind most of the season. I mean comon', them and the Texans get picked EVERY year to be the next big thing.. big mistake on my part! haha

I think you're right to an extent, asalladay, but the reason Gore wasn't a first round pick in most drafts is because he's been pretty fragile in recent years. And now he's already banged up, missing time and Hunter is filling the gap... you just can't count on him to make it through the fantasy playoffs in one piece or as the workhorse you drafted him to be.

I don't think I am worrying to much about Gore right yet. Everything I've read said he is going to start and play this week, so bring on the 100yd games.
