Weekly leagues offer a fresh start each week, which is often appealing to fantasy owners who have become disenchanted with their traditional league team. Like their traditional counterparts, successful salary cap teams are built by finding the best value at each position. Each week we’ll be choosing which player represents the best value at each skill position. Tony Romo To say Romo has been a disappointment this season would be an understatement. After finishing the 2011 season as the 9th highest scoring quarterback in the league, Romo has fallen off precipitously. Since scoring 25 points against the Giants in week 1, Romo has yet to eclipse the 20 point mark. Romo faces off against the Giants for a second time this weekend, where he hopes to repeat week 1’s success in the passing game. The Giants are giving up 8.6 passing yards per attempt, which is the third worst average in the league. Romo is valued as little as the 15th cheapest quarterback on some websites Vick Ballard This play depends on the health of incumbent starter Donald Brown. Brown is thought to have torn some cartilage in his knee during week 5, and he’s been sidelined ever since. If Brown is unable to go this weekend, Vick Ballard becomes a quality option, especially when considering his match up. Tennessee (the Colts’ week 8 opponent) is giving up 4.3 yards per carry, 11th worst in the league, while also allowing 7 rushing touchdowns on the season to date (tied for 8th most allowed). Ballard is valued as little as the 21st cheapest running back on some websites Brandon Stokley No, this article isn’t from 2004. Stokley is a relevant fantasy player all of the sudden, at least for this week. As the Broncos’ slot receiver, Stokley has experienced a resurrection of sorts, as he’s on pace to have his best season since 2004. He’s caught 3 touchdowns in his previous 4 contests, and has a chance to continue that stretch against New Orleans on Sunday night. As mentioned last week, the Saints are sporting the NFL’s worst pass defense. Stokley is valued as little as the 43rd cheapest wide receiver on some websites.
