Fast forward a couple days and the fantasy fallout is a little ugly, particularly if you thought you had yourself a solid fantasy kicker for the entire season. New Orleans should be one of the best teams to scout for a fantasy kicker. They are a high scoring offense that provides plenty of opportunities for field goals and extra points. They are also an indoor team which favors kickers, particularly late in the season. However, dating back to last year when the Saints carried 2 kickers (Hartley and John Carney), the job has been lacking stability. At this point, it doesn't look like the Saints are going to release Hartley, but they are looking to bring in a second kicker again. Fantasy Outlook: It isn't clear yet how much more leash Hartley has, assuming there is some left. The problem with him lies in the idea of starting a kicker that isn't guaranteed to get all the field goal opportunities for his team. Even though he is in a good position as a kicker for the Saints, kickers are mostly interchangable. You shouldn't fret too much about cutting him and looking for a more stable option. |
