Jackson Takes Over the Buffalo Backfield

For the first quarter of the Bills season, it has not proven a good idea to start any RB from Buffalo. The Bills backfield of Marshawn Lynch, Fred Jackson and rookie C.J. Spiller has been hard to predict, and ultimately, disappointing. Lynch was the teams leading rusher with 37 carries, they only have 1 rushing TD amongst them, and the highest scorer has a paltry 18 total fantasy points.

With the departure of Marshawn Lynch via trade to Seattle, the Bills no longer have a three headed fantasy monster and there could be some hidden value emerging in the Bills backfield.

Fantasy Outlook:
Looking back at 2009, Fred Jackson carried the rock >66% of the time for Buffalo (only 28% so far this season). During that stretch, he amassed over 1400 total yards and averaged 4.5 ypc. He was only able to notch 4 TD's, but that is still solid production.

With Lynch gone, Jackson will take over as the lead back in Buffalo and be given every chance to run away with the job. He'll lose carries to Spiller, of course, but the workload will still be there. Spiller is only averaging 3.5 ypc so far and the Bills like to use him more in the passing game. At this point, Spiller has double the number of targets as Jackson and 4x as many catches as Jackson and Lynch combined.

You should be able to make use of Jackson's expanded role immediatly as the Bills take on the Jaguars who rank 23rd against the run, allowing 88 yards and 1.25 TD's per game. Joseph Addai just racked up 63 yards and 2 scores. Let's see what F-Jax can do.
