Finley Injury Could Boost Jennings

Wednesday, October 13, 2010

The bad news just keeps coming for the injury riddled Packers. The team just received word that their star tight end Jermichael Finley is going to miss a lot more time than originally expected. Current estimates range from 8-10 weeks.

Since the Packers also lost Donald Lee to injury they were forced to press Andrew Quarless into action. Quarless did fine against Washington hauling in 4 passes for 51 yards, including a nice 21 yard grab. There is definitely a dropoff from Finley, but Quarless looks capable in the role.

Fantasy Outlook:
At best, Finley would be available for the last 4 games of the season. At worst, he might not even return. You have to let him go and make room on your roster. You can't afford to hold onto a TE for that long, especially considering how deep the position is.

Since TE is deep and Green Bay is a passing team, Quarless is worth following, but you should be able to find a better option at the position in the near term until we see more from him.

Finley led the team in receiving yards over the first 4 games and has been one of Aaron Rodgers favorite targets. His workload will need to be redistributed and we think Greg Jennings could be a big benefactor. The Packers have been looking for ways to get him the ball more and now they may be forced into getting it done.
