Carolina Wants Some Moore
Matt MooreIcon SMI

Monday, October 18, 2010

The Carolina Panthers are going to backtrack to Quarterback Matt Moore after replacing him with rookie Jimmy Clausen a few weeks back.

Clausen struggled during his brief stint as the starter. He completed 43 of 91 passes and had 3 Int's to only 1 TD. His inexperience definitely showed and he was unable to consistently move the ball. Most recently, against the Bears, he looked terrible finishing the day with 9 completions for only 61 yards and a passer rating of 29.7.

Fantasy Outlook:
We knew Clausen would struggle, but had hoped he would start catching on. So far that hasn't happened and it has really hurt all of the Panthers skill position players. Steve Smith has been injured, but when the two were on the field at the same time, they didn't have much of a connection. The running game has also struggled since opponents didn't have to respect the pass against Clausen.

Moore hasn't exactly been stellar for Carolina either, but at this point he has demonstrated more ability running this offense than Clausen. Bringing Moore back increases the value of the other skill position players in this offense.
