Raiders | Want Denarius Moore to be a complete WR : Oakland Raiders QB Carson Palmer said he believes WR Denarius Moore will only get better in his second pro season; however, in order to do so, Palmer feels Moore must be more than just a deep receiving threat. 'Hes so explosive and can do so many things down the field, but for him to take that next step he needs to get more balls that arent deep balls or big posts down the field for touchdowns,' Palmer said. 'He needs to catch slants and curls and digs and things like that. And the way things are lined up hes the guy. Hes our 'X' receiver and Im excited for him. I know hes excited about this year and hes got a lot to prove.'

Raiders | Is Terrell Owens a possibility? : Free-agent WR Terrell Owens (Bengals) took part in offseason workouts with Oakland Raiders QB Carson Palmer, WR Darrius Heyward-Bey, TE David Ausberry and WR Eddie McGee in Southern California. Palmer said Owens' presence was good for the young receivers. 'It was great for them,' Palmer said of his young teammates. 'It was our fourth or fifth day in a row of throwing and they were tired and sore and for them to see another guy, that's not on a team, that's grinding I think it was a little bit of an eye-opener for them.' Palmer added he has no issues with Owens, despite rumors of such from their one season together with the Cincinnati Bengals. However, Palmer is not sure the team needs a veteran presence in the receiving corps.

Raiders | Carson Palmer adjusting to new scheme : Oakland Raiders QB Carson Palmer said hes adjusting well to new offensive coordinator Greg Knapps scheme, which requires him to roll out and throw on the run more than he has since early in his career and in college. 'Ive done a ton of it in my career early on and in college, did a ton of different nakeds and keepers and boots and stuff like that,' Palmer said. 'It really suits me well. It suits our personnel well with some of the guys we have on the outside.'

Raiders | Carson Palmer happy with new team : Oakland Raiders QB Carson Palmer said he is in a better place after being traded from the Cincinnati Bengals, even though the Bengals made the playoffs last season. 'It was time to move on and it was time for them to move on and they're in a better place and I'm definitely in a better place,' Palmer said. Palmer's relationship with the Bengals ran its course. 'I had put in, going on nine years, and gave everything I had and I don't look back and regret anything. But it was time to move on,' Palmer said. 'They had a young team that was an up-and-coming team. It was time for me to move on. I think in the years to come both organizations will look back and say this thing was the best thing to happen.'

Raiders | To sign Matt Leinart: The Oakland Raiders plan to sign free-agent QB Matt Leinart (Texans), according to a league source. Leinart, not QB Terrelle Pryor, is expected to be the backup to QB Carson Palmer. Offensive coordinator Greg Knapp was Leinart's quarterbacks coach with the Houston Texans.

Raiders | Have confidence in Carson Palmer : Oakland Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie said he does not regret the prior regime trading first- and second-round picks to the Cincinnati Bengals for QB Carson Palmer. McKenzie believes the team can win with Palmer. 'You can beat that doggone story 'til it's worn out,' said McKenzie. 'But I know this: We've got a quarterback we think can win the division and take us to the playoffs. Losing a one and a two doesn't bother me one bit.'

Raiders | Carson Palmer likes new playbook : Oakland Raiders QB Carson Palmer is in the formative stages of learning the team's new playbook and has spent time in meetings as the offense has been installed. Palmer said he is excited over the potential of the new system. 'I think its really going to fit the personnel we have,' Palmer said. 'The style of play with the offensive line and the zone running scheme, and the speed we have in the backfield, its built for making a read, making one cut, and getting vertical and putting pressure on the defense with our speed and our running backs just heading north when they find the hole in that zone.'

Raiders | Carson Palmer likes what he sees from playbook: Oakland Raiders QB Carson Palmer said he likes what he has seen with the offensive playbook so far this offseason. 'I think its really going to fit the personnel we have. The style of play with the offensive line and the zone running scheme, and the speed we have in the backfield, its built for making a read, making one cut, and getting vertical and putting pressure on the defense with our speed and our running backs just heading north when they find the hole in that zone,' Palmer said.
