| Vikings | Trainer cautious of Adrian Petersons return : Although Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson (knee) has made no secret that he expects to recover from his torn anterior cruciate ligament in time to take the field for Week 1, team trainer Eric Sugarman is emphasizing the importance of exercising caution. Sugarman said hes willing to be the bad guy who makes Peterson mad by slowing down the rehab process if thats whats best for Petersons recovery, even though Sugarman thinks its great that Peterson is optimistic about being on the field. 'I love Adrian,' Sugarman said. 'But lets make this clear: Im still not going to be quoted as saying hes going to play in the first game. Thats not fair. I dont know that ... Hell keep throwing that out there. And good for him. Thats great. Thats obviously our goal, to get him playing the first game. But only if hes functionally safe to do it. This is our franchise.
